We here at Underscore Part 3 HQ are like most of the UK are scratching our heads at what on earth to do in this weird and not wonderful world we’ve found ourselves thrown into. Well considering we’re always chatting shit to the best acts on the sea of global indie we decided to use this to our advantage and get a plethora of acts to give us some lockdown tips!
Hey! We hope you are doing ok during lock down! Who are you currently staying/living with?
Hey! I’m getting on OK thanks. I think at this point it’s become normal life! I’m staying with my girlfriend in Hove.
Recently Off the Record did a piece asking people for their top 3 isolation albums, could we ask yours? One classic, one newish and one curve ball?
This is such a tricky one! Classic would be Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Born in the USA’ album. Newish one is a tie between Nothing but Thieves ‘Broken Machine’ and Tom Misch ‘Geography’. Curve ball would be Tina Turner ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It’ album (guilty pleasure!).
What’s your current favourite series/TV show you’re binging?
I’m not huge on TV shows at the moment, but the US Office is always great to watch …
What is the first thing you’ll do after lockdown is lifted?
Grab the lads, head into town, crack on with the pints … finish the night with a greasy kebab!
What is your favourite snacky snack for quarantine?
This is a weird but delicious combination – Brussels pate and Ritz crackers. AMAZING!!
What are your top tips for staying sane during isolation?
Keep yourself occupied with meaningful tasks; having big projects to work on are always a good idea!
If you could go to any gig tonight who would be on the line up?
Red Hot Chilli Peppers headlining (with the newly returned John Frusciante), Foals and Nothing But Thieves supporting. Sam Fender opening … we can all dream, right?!
A lot of acts are doing lots of digital things to entertain their fans, have you done anything yet or do you have any plans? What are/were they?
Yeah, loads! We have tried to keep our regular content going on Instagram and other socials. Our drummer Seb did a 24-hour non-stop Drumathon to raise money for #SaveOurVenues (we hit a whopping £1375!!!) and we’ve taken part in several other virtual fundraising festivals. We’ve also been putting out weekly covers and dabbled a bit in podcasts, plus of course we’ve released track ‘Away With You’ during lockdown!
What’s in store for the band once life goes back to normal?
We have another great indie track ‘Dance With Your Heart’ out in August, and in the meantime we have recording lined up, music videos planned and a cracking Southern UK Tour on the horizon in March 2021 (including a headline gig at Brighton’s Komedia) …watch this space!
Thanks so much for getting involved in Underscore Part 3’s Quarantine Q&A!
