We here at Underscore Part 3 HQ are like most of the UK are scratching our heads at what on earth to do in this weird and not wonderful world we’ve found ourselves thrown into. Well considering we’re always chatting shit to the best acts on the sea of global indie we decided to use this to our advantage and get a plethora of acts to give us some lockdown tips! After a wonderful acoustic set from Ynes on Monday we had a catch up to see how she’s doing!

Hi Ynes! We hope you are doing ok! Who are you currently staying/living with?

I’m staying at home during isolation – so just me and my dad – quiet household thank god hahah!

Recently Off the Record did a piece asking people for their top 3 isolation albums, could we ask yours? One classic, one newish and one curve ball?

Jagged Little Pill (Alanis Morrisette)

Kids (PUP)

Monkey Business (Black Eyed Peas)

What’s your current favourite series/TV show you’re binging?

Bojack Horseman! (Also, a newfound obsession with Modern Family…)

What is the first thing you’ll do after lockdown is lifted?

Probably let everyone else give the world a test run first haha. And then, overpriced coffee ASAP.

What is your favourite snacky snack for quarantine?

Salt and vinegar crisps x100.

What are your top tips for staying sane during isolation?

Let yourself feel whatever you need to feel I guess. I’m well aware of when I have unproductive days, but I’ve learnt to accept ‘feeling low’ instead of giving myself a hard time and making it worse.

If you could go to any gig tonight who would be on the line up?

So, I’m supposed to see Aerosmith in June which will most likely be cancelled, so them for sure!

A lot of acts are doing lots of digital things to entertain their fans, have you done anything yet or do you have any plans? What are/were they?

I did a couple live-streams when this all started – and I’ve done a couple recently (both with yourself, and with The Sunflower Lounge). I have a chat with “FuckUp Nights” scheduled for May 14th, and another livestream gig with “IndieMidlands” next week.

What’s in store for you once life goes back to normal?

We’re working on finishing up some stuff for now and trying to practice at home, but we’ll be back rehearsing as soon as it’s safe to do so! And then gigs & more gigs!

Thanks so much for getting involved in our Quarantine Q&A!
