Quarantine Q&A #12 – Redley from The Rezner gives us the lockdown lowdown!

We here at Underscore Part 3 HQ are like most of the UK are scratching our heads at what on earth to do in this weird and not wonderful world we’ve found ourselves thrown into. Well considering we’re always chatting shit to the best acts on the sea of global indie we decided to use this to our advantage and get a plethora of acts to give us some lockdown tips! The Rezner gave us an unforgettable live stream for our #STAYHOME Sessions with lots of laughs and quality music! It’s saved to our IGTV so check it out today! @underscorepart3

Hey! We hope you are doing ok during lock down! Who are you currently staying/living with?

Ello, I’m in with my lovely housemate (aka nan) I think the rest are all locked up with parents or partners. We’re coping alright. It’s given us a chance to look at approaching being a band differently, but we’re all itching to get back gigging and recording….

Recently Off the Record did a piece asking people for their top 3 isolation albums, could we ask yours? One classic, one newish and one curve ball?

Good question…I think for me personally in isolation ‘the classic’ would be Combat Rock by The Clash as they’re probably the best band ever and I’ve been shredding through that album a few times. Newish… That’s a hard one there’s a few albums I’m waiting to come out like Declan Mckenna’s new one and Sports Team’s debut, however a whole released album is hard I’m gonna cheat and say Faux Real’s new EP as it came out this week and I’m loving it, and it’s almost an album. Finally the Curve Ball would probably be Chase and Status’ latest one RTRN II JUNGLE as it always seems to come on in the car somewhere random in the country travelling from gig to gig which is probably unexpected from a guitar band like ourselves

What’s your current favourite series/TV show you’re binging?

I’ve been pretty hooked on money heist for a while now, that was my favourite lock down binge, but i know most of the band are pretty obsessed with peep show (myself included)

What is the first thing you’ll do after lockdown is lifted?

Pub!

What is your favourite snacky snack for quarantine?

You’ll struggle to find a band who enjoys Pot Noodles as much as we do.

What are your top tips for staying sane during isolation?

By not listening to The Velvet Hands.

If you could go to any gig tonight who would be on the line up?

For me it’d be IDLES / Sports Team as I’ve had tickets to see them both recently and it’s been cancelled 🙁 I’m dying to see them both. For the rest of the band it’d probably be Foo Fighters supported by Foo Fighters again and some other goth band.

A lot of acts are doing lots of digital things to entertain their fans, have you done anything yet or do you have any plans? What are/were they?

We’ve been getting drunk on Facebook live with other friends in bands on zoom and specifically me making a bit of a tit of myself doing so. It’s great content. However, this Friday we have a live stream acoustic gig on your Instagram live! Sam will be taking the reins on that one, so it’ll be less of a shit show in comparison to the ones we’ve been putting on ourselves

What’s in store for the band once life goes back to normal?

FINALLY GETTING THE EP FINISHED. We’ve been trying so hard to get it out, however the title track is yet to be recorded because of this Corona thing. But it’s coming, we promise.

Thanks so much for getting involved in Underscore Part 3’s Quarantine Q&A!
