‘In a world that right now can often feel post-apocalyptic Whenyoung’s anthemic indie is the musical antidepressant we all needed.’

Whenyoung have been catching the attentions of the media for all the right reasons for the past 6 months; in a world that right now can often feel post-apocalyptic Whenyoung’s anthemic indie is the musical antidepressant we all needed. Lead singer/bass player Aoife has spoken about ‘Reasons To Dream’ saying it’s that it’s “our collective experiences of life since we have moved to London… We’ve gone from knowing nobody to making close friends, from finding it lonely to finding it welcoming.” For that alone ‘Reasons To Dream’ will become the soundtrack to a generation of twenty-somethings on their journeys in young adulthood; it is the type of album that could be toured for a 15 year anniversary and pack out venues of nostalgic music lovers living their 30/40-something lives.

‘Whenyoung [will have a] meteoric explosion! Our bets are placed, Whenyoung’s October tour will be their last in small venues.’

With singles ‘Never Let Go’ and ‘Future’ having made their impression the indie community the band have caught further attention touring with now indie heavyweights Sundara Karma. Sundara Karma are on their second album tour and are firm fan favourites but started as fledglings in the recent past. You can picture the scene backstage on this tour with Sundara Karma mentoring Whenyoung for their inevitable meteoric explosion! With 2 singles Whenyoung saw the appetite in their fans releasing single ‘The Others’ just ahead of the album; let’s just say our bets are placed, Whenyoung’s October tour will be their last in small venues.

‘‘Reasons To Dream’ optimises the term ‘all killer no filler’.’

Although Whenyoung’s ‘Reasons To Dream’ has a more magical indie-pop sound than Catfish & The Bottlemen’s debut ‘The Balance’ in many ways as a listener your ears are lead to those feelings you had when first hearing Catfish’s debut of skipping from track to track unable to find a track that doesn’t sound like a single. That said closing track ‘Something Sweet’ is a mellow number less suited to being a single but this is an intentional closer; ‘Reasons To Dream’ optimises the term ‘all killer no filler’.

‘‘Reasons To Dream’ will be the soundtrack to Summer 2019!’

The team behind Whenyoung have played a careful PR campaign with the previously mentioned tour support and dropping the album in perfect time for cider-soaked summer BBQ’s, ‘Reasons To Dream’ will be the soundtrack to Summer 2019! If the current uni intake can’t relate to track names ‘Pretty Pure’, ‘Never Let Go’, ‘Future’, ‘In My Dreams’ and ‘Heartbroken’ they’re living a completely different world of emotions to the past generation. These are just a handful of track names, but every tracks lyrics and themes pen the journey of youth whilst being musically skillful and infectious to win over any listener.
