It’s not often that you can see 2 bands getting Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6 air time for £6, well this Friday that’s exactly what the team at We Broke Free are hosting with your future favourite bands Her’s, Pizzagirl and local newcomers -You.
On Wednesday Her’s play their sold-out London Moth Club show before bringing their off the wall, jangly pop songs to Anvil, a venue more used to hosting guttural metal. Book your tickets before they sell out this gig and bigger venues in the future and let Her’s show you how to do intimacy and bromance in an isolating social media flooded world. WBF head honcho Tor Brynes described the duo as “Sounding like Mac Demarco walked onto a David Lynch film set”. New single ‘Love On The Line (Call Now)’ is the first glimpse from this summer’s debut album and shows a step up in their catchy, infectious sound adding to their sampling and continues the polished production building on their stylised 2017 9 track compilation ‘Songs of Her’s’.
Her’s met at Liverpool University bonding on their experiences of growing up in small seaside towns in Barron In Furness, UK and Norway and have chosen to keep their mutual local bonds taking Liverpool’s Pizzagirl on tour with them. Pizzagirl is the alias of Liam Brown who is riding high on his debut ep ‘An Extended Play’ released just last month. When DIY magazine spoke to Pizzagirl he described his debut single ‘Favourite Song’ as an “attempt at making a tune that would fit nicely in a Miami Vice/Blade Runner soundtrack”. As a solo project, don’t get confused that Pizzagirl’s sound might be sparse, the bedroom wizard has used gadgetry and production to its best creating full sounding 80s influenced pop tunes.
Opening the night will be Bournemouth duo -You who describe themselves as ‘the selfish bastards achey breakey lonely hearts club breakup boys band’. This night will be one of those Bournemouth nights that people who weren’t there will later claim they were when seeing Her’s and Pizzagirl gracing mainstages at festivals. Come down on the tour that started it all and enjoy the whimsical wonderment of geniuses creating soundscapes for our high-tech digital age whilst wooing us all with old fashioned romance.
